A Retrospective clinical study of survival rate of the ITI SLA(Sand-blasted, Large-Grit, Acid-etched) short implant

Abstract
Recently, survival rate of short implants are rising for various surface-processed implants are developed. The aim of this retrospective study is to evaluate the clinical use and the efficacy of ITI SLA short implant. The following results are compiled from 59 patients who received ITI SLA short implant surgery at the periodontal dept. of Yonsei University Hospital between January 2000 and December 2004.
1. 59 patients received 79 implants on their maxilla and mandible (Mx 11, Mn. 68). Posterior area accounted for 98.75% of the whole implant surgery.
2. 71 implants were restored by bridge type, and only 8 implants were restored by a single crown.
3. No single implant was removed. Thus, the cumulative survival rate was 100%.
A short-term assessment result of ITI SLA short implant has shown a successful survival rate.
